BTI Systems Continues to Strengthen the Company's Global Partner Network

Core2Africa Leverages BTI's Full Portfolio to Expand Into New Packet-Optical Market Opportunities

OTTAWA, ON and BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Sep 8, 2015) - Leveraging a resurging EMEA market opportunity for network equipment spend, BTI Systems today announced a partnership with Core2Africa, a company that provides architecture, design and deployment of IP and Ethernet infrastructures to mobile operators, carriers, Internet service providers and data center operators. As a market-leading provider of cloud and metro networking software and systems to content and service providers around the world, BTI will enable Core2Africa to expand its offerings beyond pure optical by providing next-generation packet-optical networking solutions for data center interconnect, business services and mobile backhaul applications.

The announcement was made at Capacity Africa, one of the largest pan-African telecommunications conferences. Core2Africa serves the Sub-Saharan Africa market including SADC, West, Central, East Africa and South Africa with solutions that are designed to address vital network functions and interoperate in multi-vendor environments.

This EMEA partner expansion news follows BTI's recent announcement of partner Imtech Telecom, one of Europe's top systems integrators.

"We provide complete infrastructure solutions that enable service providers to offer scalable, high quality and cost-effective services to their customers," said Nigel van Tura, Core2Africa director responsible for vendor management. "We chose to partner with BTI as the company offers advanced solutions that will enable us to meet the evolving requirements of our fast growing customer base. BTI's open, packet-rich network infrastructure solutions will simplify large-scale operations, lower costs and improve network performance and reliability for our mobile operator, service provider, data center operator and carrier customers."

BTI's open, SDN-enabled converged networking platforms will provide Core2Africa: high capacity (100G) connectivity; unified packet and optical service delivery for 1G to 10G at the service edge; streamlined end-to-end network management; and cost-effective delivery of data center interconnect, mobile backhaul and Ethernet business services. The systems Core2Africa will leverage include the BTI 7800 Series Intelligent Cloud Connect, the BTI 7000 Series Packet Optical Transport platforms, and the BTI 800 Series Ethernet access and aggregation platforms. Additionally, Core2Africa will offer the entire BTI proNX Software portfolio, which provides intuitive control software that delivers centralized network visibility and control of multi-vendor, multi-layer networks as well as simplifying and accelerating service delivery and improving customer responsiveness.

The BTI 7800 Series integrates a rich set of optical capabilities (including 100G Coherent and integrated ROADMs) with MPLS packet processing in an open SDN-enabled platform, enabling service providers to increase network capacity and scale; reduce space, power and cooling requirements; improve network utilization; and simplify and accelerate the deployment of high-margin services. The BTI 7000 Series is a compact, modular and easy-to-use packet optical networking system that integrates MEF Carrier Ethernet (CE) 2.0-certified switching, 10G WDM optical layer and ROADMs to simplify network deployment and operations. The BTI 800 Series Ethernet access and aggregation platforms comprise MEF CE 2.0-certified, compact, multiservice, carrier-grade systems designed to deliver high-performance, scalable packet-based services while substantially reducing operational costs. The BTI proNX Management & Control software suite includes the BTI proNX Control Software, the BTI proNX Service Manager, the BTI proNX Dashboard and the BTI proNX SLA Portal. Together these solutions will enable Core2Africa's customers to optimize network performance and availability.

"Partnering with Core2Africa is important for BTI as we expand our presence in EMEA," said James Clegg, Senior Vice President of EMEA Sales at BTI Systems. "Core2Africa understands clearly that networks are evolving away from legacy infrastructures to accommodate unrelenting bandwidth demands driven by an increase in video, mobile and cloud traffic. They recognized that BTI's portfolio of next-generation packet-optical platforms and software provides a great opportunity to help their customers deal with disparate infrastructures, rising costs and network complexity. We look forward to working closely with the Core2Africa team to meet and exceed their business goals."
