Bud Light Lime Surf Series Announces Eclectic All-Star Line-Up

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - May 16, 2011) - Striving to offer a diverse pool of athletes, The Bud Light Lime Surf Series, a new ASP North American Specialty Event managed by IMG, has confirmed half of the men's field and the full women's field for the inaugural event at San Onofre State Beach -- Church on Memorial Day weekend. Both the men's and women's lineups feature some of the biggest names in the surfing industry.

The final list of participants will be announced a week before the contest.

"Our goal for the Bud Light Lime Surf Series is to create an event that offers spectators a good cross section of the surfing industry and showcases contest surfers as well as the 'magazine' and 'video' surfers," said Chris Conrad, Vice President, IMG Action Sports. "The response we've received from the athletes and surfing community has been tremendous, and we're looking forward to putting on two great events for fans."

The Bud Light Lime Surf Series, owned and operated by IMG, consists of two new events along the California coast in 2011, bringing together 32 top men and eight women to compete for more than $100,000 in total prize purse. The kick-off event will be held at Church in San Onofre State Beach on Memorial Day weekend and the finals will be held at Point in Ventura on Labor Day Weekend. IMG is partnering with Surfline.com to broadcast highlight footage of each event's contests, including full airings of the finals and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage.

The Bud Light Lime Surf Series will also partner with The Mauli Ola Foundation -- which introduces surfing as a natural treatment to people with genetic disorders -- and the San Onofre Foundation -- whose mission is to provide education, protection, and preservation for the California State Parks at San Onofre and San Clemente State Beaches -- to help raise awareness for both organizations.

In addition to the Bud Light Lime Surf Series, Anheuser-Busch's involvement in surfing includes the Bud Light Lime Surf Team -- Fred Patacchia, Jr., Serena Brooke, Sean Moody and Benji Weatherley -- and annual surf videos, related parties, promotions and activities supporting the team.
