Bullfrog Power, Canada's 100 per cent green energy provider, will celebrate the British Columbia launch of its new green natural gas product—the first and only 100 per cent green natural gas product to be widely available to homes and businesses across Canada—at Rocky Mountain Flatbread in Vancouver. As an existing green electricity customer and one of the first businesses to sign on for 100 per cent green natural gas with Bullfrog, Rocky Mountain Flatbread joins a growing list of Canadian businesses dedicated to reducing their energy-related emissions footprint.

"In our business, natural gas consumption contributes a significant amount to our overall emissions footprint and environmental impact," said Dominic Fielden, Founder, Rocky Mountain Flatbread. "Bullfrog Power's green natural gas product gives us a way to reduce our natural gas-related environmental impact while supporting renewable energy development in Canada."

Through the agreement, Bullfrog's producers inject 100 per cent green natural gas into the pipeline to match the amount of gas Rocky Mountain Flatbread uses. Bullfrog Power's green natural gas is produced by capturing and cleaning the energy-rich gas produced through the decay of organic matter in our everyday waste stream. The gas is then injected onto the national gas pipeline, displacing fossil fuel-based gas sources. Unlike conventional natural gas, green natural gas does not increase the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

"Bullfrog Power provides renewable energy solutions that allow Canadians to reduce their impact on the environment," said Peter Robinson, Chief Executive Officer, David Suzuki Foundation. "Biomethane capture from the decay of organic waste provides an environmentally low-impact alternative to fossil fuel-based natural gas. Bullfrog's landfill gas product can help reduce carbon emissions that contribute to climate change."

In addition to choosing 100 per cent green natural gas, Rocky Mountain Flatbread has implemented a number of sustainable practices including the creation of a zero waste integrated menu, composting, sourcing local produce, using biodegradable take home containers and teaching sustainable life skills in local schools. The restaurant was also a founding member of The Natural Step in Canmore, The Vancouver Aquarium Ocean Wise Program and the Green Table Network. And in 2009, Rocky Mountain Flatbread was named the 'Best Green Business' in Vancouver by the Better Business Bureau.

"We applaud Rocky Mountain Flatbread for further reducing its environmental impact by supporting green natural gas," said Tom Heintzman, President, Bullfrog Power. "The company is helping spread the world that there is now another way, beyond supporting green electricity and conserving energy, for businesses to reduce their GHG emissions."

Signing up for Bullfrog Power's green electricity and green natural gas requires no retrofits or special equipment and can be done online in minutes at www.bullfrogpower.com. Many homes and businesses in British Columbia are already reducing their natural gas-related emissions by supporting 100 per cent green natural gas through Bullfrog Power.

"As someone who cares about the environment, I want to do everything I can to reduce my carbon footprint," says Colin Doylend, a bullfrogpowered® Vancouver homeowner. "Bullfrog Power's new green natural gas product is a simple way for me to maintain my commitment to the environment."

Some of the Bullfrog Power green gas customers at launch in British Columbia include Salt Spring Coffee, Rocky Mountain Soap Company, Left Coast Naturals, Eclipse Awards, Octopus Strategies and Saul Good Gift Co.
