Bump N' Smash Volleyball Tournament Returns to Scotiabank Place

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 22, 2009) - Scotiabank Place announced today the Bump n' Smash volleyball tournament, presented by Thomas Cavanagh Construction, will take place on Saturday, July 25.

The annual event, which has raised more than $750,000 in past years, will focus its support on Roger's House, the Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre and Kids Come First. Teams that raise $2,000 will receive a suite with 12 tickets for a 2009-10 Senators pre-season game. Teams that raise $3,000 will earn themselves a suite with 12 tickets for a 2009-10 Senators pre-season game while also enjoying an in-suite dinner.

This unique event brings the beach to the participants as dump trucks descend upon Scotiabank Place parking lots with more than 2,000 tonnes of fine beach sand to create a spectacular beach volleyball playing surface.

Registration is open now at Final deadline for all teams to enter is Friday, July 17.

More than 1,000 participants are expected to compete and raise funds for charity this year. Teams can include between five and 10 players. There must be one female on the court at all times. Teams can play in either the recreational or competitive divisions; all teams are guaranteed a minimum of four games. Terrific prizes are up for grabs, in addition to a silent auction on-site.

Co-sponsored by 93.9 BOB FM, the Ottawa Citizen and CTV Ottawa, the Bump n' Smash tournament will offer participants a commemorative T-shirt and barbecue lunch. While enjoying on-site music provided by 93.9 BOB FM or Bump N' Smash's featured live entertainment, everyone can test their skill at driving a massive Cavanagh Contruction "ROCK" Truck. There will also be interactive games, a silent auction and Spiker's alley (which includes demonstrating and sampling of various products) in addition to the availability of food and beverage.
