Bump N' Smash Volleyball Tournament Returns to Scotiabank Place

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 6, 2008) - Scotiabank Place announced today the Bump n' Smash volleyball tournament, presented by Thomas Cavanagh Construction, will take place on Saturday, July 26.

The annual event, which has raised more than $700,000 in past years, will focus its support on Roger's House, the Ottawa Senators Foundation, the Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre and Kids Come First. Teams that raise $2,000 will receive a suite with 12 tickets for a 2008-09 Senators pre-season game. Teams that raise $3,000 will also receive a suite with 12 tickets for a 2008-09 Senators pre-season game while enjoying an in-suite dinner.

This unique event brings the beach to the participants as dump trucks descend upon Scotiabank Place parking lots with more than 2,000 tonnes of fine beach sand to create a spectacular beach-volleyball playing surface.

Registration is open now at www.bump-n-smash.org. Final deadline for all teams is Friday, July 18, 2008.

More than 120 teams are expected to compete and raise funds for charity this year. Teams can have between five and 10 players. There must be one female on the court at all times. Teams can play in either the recreational or competitive divisions; all teams are guaranteed a minimum of four games. Terrific prizes are up for grabs, including an all-inclusive trip for two to Sandals Beach Resort in Jamaica, courtesy of PMA Agencies - Appleton Rum.

Co-sponsored by the Ottawa Citizen and CTV Ottawa, the Bump n' Smash tournament will offer participants a commemorative T-shirt and barbecue lunch. Radio station 93.9 BOB FM, KAGE, Rory Gardiner Band, Stix and Stones, Media Magnet and other select local talent will provide entertainment throughout the day.
