Burlington Canal Lift Bridge-Lane Restrictions

HAMILTON, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - July 8, 2015) - Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) wishes to advise motorists, pedestrians and cyclists of upcoming lane restrictions on the Burlington Canal Lift Bridge, located in Hamilton, Ontario.

The bridge will continue to be closed to vehicular traffic every night until Friday, July 10, 2015, between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Pedestrian and cyclist access will be maintained or accommodated.

From Monday, July 13, to Monday, August 31, 2015, the two outside lanes will be closed. During this time, two-way traffic will be maintained at all times. Pedestrians and cyclists will continue to have access to the bridge during this period.

This schedule may change due to weather conditions or logistical requirements.

Short-term closures of the bridge or individual lanes will continue to occur periodically during the project. PWGSC will publish notifications regarding upcoming closures, restrictions and any changes in schedule.

Safety is a top priority for PWGSC during this project. The replacement of key components of the bridge's lift system will extend its serviceable life, meeting the needs of both marine and vehicular traffic in the area.

PWGSC thanks users for their patience.
