Burnaby Hospital health care workers host pre-election BBQ Friday

Local NDP candidates to attend; BBQ 11 a.m to 1 p.m.; Opposition health critic Adrian Dix speaks at noon

Attention: City Editor, Health/Medical Editor, News Editor, Government/Political Affairs Editor BURNABY/BC/MEDIA ADVISORY--(Marketwire - April 17, 2009) - The Burnaby Hospital Local of the Hospital Employees' Union is hosting a pre-election barbeque to encourage health care workers to make their votes count on May 12.

HEU president Ken Robinson and financial secretary Donisa Bernardo will be speaking, along with Opposition health critic Adrian Dix.

Some of the NDP candidates running for election in Burnaby ridings are also expected to attend.

The HEU local will be offering lunch with Burnaby fire fighters barbequing the hotdogs. Donations for lunch will go to the B.C. Professional Fire Fighters (BCPFF) Burn Fund. The Teamsters Truck, courtesy of Local 31, will provide the stage for the speakers.

When: Friday, April 17, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Note: Dix and Robinson are scheduled to speak at noon

Where: Burnaby Hospital (3935 Kincaid Street) on Ingleton Avenue between Kincaid and Sunset
