Burns & McDonnell Announces New Leadership of Construction Design/Build and Environmental Divisions

KANSAS CITY, MO--(Marketwired - Jan 21, 2016) - New leaders have been named for Burns & McDonnell's Construction Design/Build (CDB) and Environmental divisions.

Randy Griffin has succeeded Don Greenwood as Group President and General Manager of the CDB division, following Greenwood's retirement at year-end 2015. Greenwood also has retired from his seat on the Burns & McDonnell Board of Directors. Greenwood founded the division when he joined the firm in 1994 and subsequently built it into a $1.4 billion organization. The CDB division today accounts for more than half the company's annual revenue and has more than 600 employee-owners, including many assigned as field staff to multiple large projects throughout North America.

Greenwood hired Griffin in 2001 as Director of Procurement. Griffin soon moved into roles of increasing responsibility, including a 2004 promotion to serve as officer in charge of construction operations. In that role, he developed and implemented practices and strategies focused on addressing challenges faced by field managers, technical support staff and construction crews assigned to projects across all industry sectors. Griffin has gained in-depth experience in every facet of CDB operations and is one of Burns & McDonnell's most ardent advocates for continuous improvement in safety and health practices. Throughout his career, he has gained experience managing projects in the process, chemical, power, pharmaceutical, food, aviation and manufacturing sectors. Griffin received his bachelor's degree in 1983 from Central Missouri State University, now the University of Central Missouri.

"Randy is ready to begin a new chapter on one of Burns & McDonnell's greatest success stories," said Chairman and CEO Greg Graves. "Randy is a take-charge leader who will do whatever it takes to support everyone on a project and make sure the job gets done right. He has long been part of a tremendously talented CDB team and it's now his time in the leadership seat."

Steve Nalefski has joined Burns & McDonnell as Vice President and General Manager of the Environmental division, succeeding Steve Linnemann, who has retired. Nalefski has 30 years' experience in environmental management consulting, with particular emphasis on assessment and remediation for projects worldwide. A registered Professional Geologist in multiple states, Nalefski has led project teams working on complex cleanup programs worldwide, with particular emphasis on the petroleum and chemical industries. He received his bachelor's degree in geology from Illinois State University and did post graduate study in hydrogeology at Wright State University.

Steve Linnemann formally retired from Burns & McDonnell at year-end 2015 after a total of 18 years with the firm. He was named General Manager of the Burns & McDonnell Chicago Regional office in 1999 and then was promoted in 2007 to lead the Environmental division.

"Steve Nalefski has amazing credentials for this role with many years of success spanning the entire spectrum of services in the environmental market," said Graves. "Though it is unusual for Burns & McDonnell to recruit from outside for senior leadership positions, Steve Nalefski completely gets our employee-ownership culture and is the perfect fit to take our Environmental group to new levels of success."
