Burns & McDonnell Announces Retirement of Atlanta Regional Office Vice President Arnold Olender

Oko Buckle Named as Next Atlanta Region Leader, Effective in January 2016

ALPHARETTA, GA--(Marketwired - Sep 21, 2015) - Burns & McDonnell today announced that Atlanta Vice President and General Manager, Arnold Olender, will retire in January 2016. He will be succeeded by Oko Buckle, who currently serves as regional manager of electrical transmission and distribution (T&D) engineering services for clients throughout the Southeast.

Olender has been general manager of Burns & McDonnell's Atlanta office since he joined the firm in 2002. During his tenure, Olender has transformed the Atlanta region from a small six-person office with its original focus on environmental clients to a multi-state, 80-person regional operation offering a wide range of engineering design, construction and consulting services for aviation, aerospace, utility, energy, military and local, state and federal government clients.

Buckle, recently named principal at Burns & McDonnell, joined the firm in 2006 as a substation engineer and soon afterward moved to Atlanta where he has overseen the growth of T&D engineering projects for many of the largest utilities in the Southeast.

In May, Olender and Buckle led the expansion of Burns & McDonnell into Florida by opening the firm's first major office in Orlando with plans to triple the size of the team there within the next year.

"Arnold Olender has built a great foundation for Burns & McDonnell in Atlanta," said Paul Fischer, president of regional offices for Burns & McDonnell. "From a small office with a single focus on environmental services, Arnold has steadily built our presence throughout the Southeast with the full scope of services offered by Burns & McDonnell."

"Oko Buckle is the right person to take our Atlanta region to the next level," said Burns & McDonnell Chairman and CEO Greg Graves. "While he definitely has big shoes to fill, Oko has demonstrated the technical excellence and dedication to client service that has won the confidence of some of our largest and most important clients. He is a great leader who exemplifies the ownership culture we are known for."

The Atlanta regional office serves aviation, military, aerospace and industrial manufacturing, municipal water and wastewater, and electric utility clients. The Atlanta Journal Constitution has consistently recognized Burns & McDonnell as one of Atlanta's Top Workplaces and the Atlanta office has been named Engineering Employer of the Year by the Georgia chapter of the American Counsel of Engineering Companies.
