Burns & McDonnell Currently Designing and Constructing Three State-of-the-Art Military Readiness Facilities for Georgia Army National Guard


ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - Mar 2, 2012) - Burns & McDonnell has been awarded an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract by the Georgia Army National Guard. Under the contract, Burns & McDonnell's Atlanta office will provide architecture, engineering and construction management services for three readiness centers to be utilized by the Georgia Army National Guard. All of the facilities are being designed to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver standards.

The first of the projects is a 106,000-square-foot readiness center in Cumming, GA that is scheduled to complete construction in early 2013. This $20 million center will house state-of-the-art technical training and operational readiness support equipment and facilities for the Georgia Army National Guard's 420th Signal Company, the 230th Support Company and the 560th Battlefield Support Brigade. With a 246-seat auditorium and multiple classrooms, the facility has the capacity to accommodate simultaneous training and readiness activities for up to 430 soldiers.

Another of the projects will be a 56,000-square-foot readiness center in Macon, GA that will support the Georgia Army National Guard's 48th Brigade Combat Team, elements of the 48th Brigade Special Troops Battalion and 148th Brigade Support Battalion. This $13.4 million facility is currently in design and is scheduled for completion in late 2013. It is designed to accommodate activities of up to 335 soldiers with command group areas, classrooms and a 182-seat auditorium.

A third project will be a 62,000-square-foot readiness center in Atlanta for several units of the Georgia Army National Guard. This facility will include an assembly hall, administration offices, classrooms and support space, and a military vehicle parking area at an existing National Guard site in Atlanta, Georgia. This $13.5 million facility is in design and expected to be complete in 2013.
