Burson-Marsteller and Helios Partners Join Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games Bid

BRUSSELS, Belgium--(CCNMatthews - Aug 30, 2005) -

The Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games Bid Committee has appointed global public relations and public affairs consultancy Burson-Marsteller and Atlanta-based Helios Partners to support Sochi's bid to host the 2014 Winter Games.

Burson-Marsteller and Helios Partners recently announced an exclusive global Olympic and Sports Marketing strategic business relationship that is being led by Jeremy Galbraith, CEO of Burson-Marsteller Brussels and Terrence Burns, President and CEO of Helios Partners. This appointment marks the two agencies' first endeavour in the joint venture. Having previously worked together on Moscow's 2012 Olympic Games bid, the two are looking forward to cooperating on this new opportunity and are confident of Sochi's chances to win the right to host the 2014 Winter Games.

"Russia has never hosted an Olympic Winter Games, yet it is one of the most successful Olympic winter sports powers with over 550 individual medals in 12 Winter Games. Sochi has over 20,000 high-quality hotel rooms and our professional, dedicated Bid Committee team is already working with a team of international winter sports experts to refine all areas of our Games planning," said Dmitri Svatkovsky, Olympic Champion and Executive Director of the Sochi 2014 Bid Committee. "We are looking forward to working again with Burson-Marsteller and Helios Partners as they have clearly demonstrated their expertise and passion for the Olympic Movement, their dedication, and their determination to help us win the right to host the 2014 Olympic Winter Games."

"We are thrilled to be working with the Sochi 2014 Bid Committee and firmly believe that the city will be a strong candidate because of its unique Winter Games plan and Russia's unequalled prowess and experience in winter sports," remarked Jeremy Galbraith.

Terrence Burns added, "Sochi's geography is unique because visitors can go from tropical, sun-drenched beaches on the Black Sea to world-class alpine ski-slopes in less than one hour, providing a once-in-a-lifetime Winter Games experience for athletes and the Olympic Family."

The final selection of the 2014 host city will be decided by the votes of the International Olympic Committee in Guatemala City in July 2007.
