Business Authors Festival to Focus on Leadership Best Practices

LEXINGTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 27, 2005 -- Leadership Best Practices will be the focus of a unique Business Authors Festival to be co-sponsored by the Institute of Management consultants, New England chapter (IMCNE) and Emerson Consulting Group Inc. on Monday June 6, 4-7 pm at the Sheraton Lexington Hotel, in Lexington, Massachusetts.

Highlight of the festival is a panel with three recent authors: Michael Shenkman, author of "The Arch and the Path: The Life of Leading Greatly," Suzanne Bates, author of "Speak Like a CEO: Secrets to Commanding Attention and Getting Results" and Lou Carter, author of two books "Best Practices in Leadership Development and Organization Change" and "The Change Champions." Greg Calkins of Calkins Advisors will also participate. Moderator is Ken Lizotte, President of Emerson Consulting Group, also an author with the soon-to-be-published "Beyond Reason: Questioning Assumptions of Everyday Life."

The panelists will explain how leadership differs from managing, what best practices the top companies employ to achieve high-level success and market leadership status and how professionals can command attention in the way they speak and present themselves.

Panelists:

Michael Shenkman PhD is a recognized spokesperson and consultant to major companies and not-for-profit organizations on how to cultivate outstanding leaders. He has written two previous books on the topic and is a popular seminar leader on leadership and mentoring. His book is called "The Arch and the Path: The Life of Leading Greatly."

Suzanne Bates, an award winning television anchor and news commentator and now an executive coach, has recently published "Speak Like a CEO: Secrets to Commanding Attention and Getting Results." Suzanne 's unique approach has helped hundreds of business leaders discover their own voice and deliver better presentations, media interviews and meetings.

Lou Carter's latest book "Best Practices in Leadership Development and Organization Change" was an outgrowth of a research study on trends and practices in organizations large and small. It is a step-by-step approach to leadership development in a changing environment. Carter is President of the Best Practices Institute, based in Waltham, Massachusetts.

The fourth panelist, Greg Calkins of Calkins Advisors, is not an author but sponsors leading-edge authors throughout the year via his forums and advisory services. A seasoned marketing executive and entrepreneur, Greg will share what he has learned from all of these authors he has sponsored and their books.

Moderator Ken Lizotte is a frequent keynoter at conferences and seminars where he discusses ways that consultants, business leaders and company representatives can become "thought leaders" when they publish articles and books and conduct speaking engagements.
