SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - July 9, 2008) - At BizJam Seattle 08, Biznik, a business networking community that connects independent business people, today announced that it has more than doubled its revenue and number of members from January 1 to July 1, 2008. The company has grown revenue primarily through paid memberships, which accounts for 75 percent of total revenue. Since January, Biznik grew from 6,000 members to more than 13,500.

Today's announcement is being made in conjunction with Biznik's annual BizJam conference that is taking place July 9-10, 2008 at the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center in West Seattle. Registration is still open; the agenda and registration information is available at

"Our success this year is based on Biznik providing a much-needed service: a community that boosts our members' business knowledge, connections and referrals in the area in which they live," said Lara Eve Feltin, co-founder of Biznik. "We've built Biznik for people who are building and promoting their small business within their local community -- a particularly challenging task in today's business environment that straddles both online and offline worlds."

Biznik was founded in March 2005 by Lara Feltin, a successful photographer, and Dan McComb, an indie Web developer. Although Biznik started by offering services only in Seattle, the company now fosters online communities in 20 major metro areas, including: Boston; Chicago; Los Angeles; New York; Portland, OR; San Francisco and Washington, D.C.

Biznik is currently growing at a rate of 1,200 new members per month. Biznik expects to achieve profitability within the next six months.

"Every entrepreneur should be highly involved in the community in which they live and work," said Shane Petersen, EcoBroker Realtor at the Windermere Eastlake office in Seattle. "You need to be in front of people. The beauty of organizations like Biznik is that they create a community of like-minded people. You don't have to look outside of Biznik to find the tools and resources needed to grow your business."
