Business Objects Named One of British Columbia's Top 30 Employers

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 20, 2006) - Business Objects, Canada's largest independent business intelligence (BI) software provider, today announced that it has been selected as one of the Top 30 Employers in British Columbia (B.C.). The survey of best workplaces, conducted by Mediacorp, was published in the Vancouver Sun, Province, and Victoria Times.

Commitment to career development is a key reason Business Objects made the annual ranking. Selection was based on key criteria including training and professional development, community and charitable involvement, employee communications, as well as health and family benefits.

"We are extremely proud of this achievement because it reinforces what our own surveys show - our employees really value the opportunity to develop and evolve their careers at Business Objects," said Greg Wolfe, Senior vice president and general manager, at Business Objects Americas. "Our employees are passionate about serving our customers and the role they play helping Business Objects continue to lead the business intelligence market."

Career development at Business Objects touches all 4,900 employees at every level, department, and location across its network of more than 80 offices worldwide. For example:

- Managers participate in forty-hours of leadership training each year.

- Employees identify their career development path, and receive time and funding to pursue educational courses.

- Any employee may transfer to another office to expand their career - from Bangalore, India to Vancouver, Canada or Paris, France to Shanghai, China.

"I have been at Business Objects for over eight years and during this time the company has constantly and consistently allowed me to expand my role from starting in inside sales to now being vice president responsible for Mid Market sales," said Rob Scott, vice president NA mid market sales at Business Objects and 'Mentor of the Year' by Vancouver's Leaders of Tomorrow Mentorship Program. "I encourage my managers to participate in leadership courses and also encourage their teams to pursue training to fulfill personal career aspirations or overcome challenges. As a market leader, Business Objects truly believes that it is important to invest in your people. If you do this the right way, productivity will follow."
