Business RadioX's Atlanta Technology Leaders Welcomes Switchyards

Atlanta Technology Leaders Hosts Michael Tavani to Talk About Plans for Downtown Atlanta

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - October 02, 2014) - The September 18, 2014, episode of Atlanta Technology Leadersfound hosts Stone Payton and Lee Kantor speaking with Michael Tavani about his new, design-focused consumer startup incubator, Switchyards.

Tavani recently opened Switchyards, which is based in downtown Atlanta. Tavani has been awarded Top Up-and-Coming Entrepreneur at TiECON Southeast 2013, 2010 Mobile Marketer of the Year by the Tech Marketing Awards and was named one of 20 People to Watch in 2014 in Atlanta by Creative Loafing. He is a frequent speaker on startups and has been quoted on CNN, CNBC, and NPR, and in The Washington Post, Businessweek, Mashable, Travel + Leisure, CBS, and Fast Company. He also hosts On Doers, a conversation about founders and beginnings.

"I loved the beginning stages, so what did I do? I jumped right back in," said Tavani. "Atlanta's not known to be a great consumer start-up town, but we have great consumer businesses. I always thought when the timing was right and I was at the right point in my cycle of startups, I'll do something consumer focused. It's turned out to be the combination of a physical space and an incubator where we're launching a lot of ideas."

Switchyards will house a variety of business-to-consumer companies. The project is expected to attract more businesses to the overlooked downtown Atlanta area, in hopes of transforming it. With the launch of Switchyards, Atlanta can expect to see a drastic change in the downtown market. The first of these companies, Slingput, is a launching pad that serves as a site for feedback, email, and pre-purchase or donation payments. Slingput will provide a platform for innovators to present their ideas in hopes of gaining support.
