BusinessCom Updates VSAT and TES Bandwidth Management Solutions

GIBRALTAR, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - November 9, 2010) - BusinessCom, a global satellite Internet service provider, has introduced new media content features for its TES (Traffic Engineering Server) bandwidth management solution, specifically designed to run on satellite Internet connections. These features allow users to save a significant portion of expensive satellite bandwidth and reduce VSAT operating expenditures by a very sensible margin.

The new TES media content features include a media filter and media cache. The filter allows users to control bandwidth usage associated with video content, such as online streaming services and online video downloads. An example of this feature might be systems administrators of enterprise networks who want to block any recreational video usage completely without blocking the hosting site. The media cache enables TES to save the most viewed video content on its hard drive in order to stream it locally as many times as needed later on -- much like HTTP caching a web site.

Additional TES features now made available by Business Com are domain name, MIME and HTTP file extension filtering, and some bandwidth management instructions, such as group-based QoS. BusinessCom considers TES to be a crucial part of its integrated satellite solution offering, enabling its end customers to achieve high satellite bandwidth efficiency. TES is not limited to satellite WAN links though, and can work with any IP-enabled connections.

BusinessCom has also announced a significant pricing decrease for its PEP-iDirect VSAT services worldwide and increased availability of VSAT services on the SES World Skies NSS-12 C-Band, covering all Africa.
