buyingTeam Awarded Outsourcing 'Oscar' After Achieving Dramatic Cost Savings for Universal Music

First time outsourced purchasing recognised in prestigious annual awards event

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - July 3, 2008) - buyingTeam, the procurement specialist, has won the OutsourcingCenter's 2008 Best EU Outsourcing Excellence Award for achieving significant cost savings for Universal Music. Significantly, buyingTeam's achievement marks the first time purchasing has been recognised in these global awards.

"We are proud to have won the prestigious Outsourcing Excellence Award for our work with Universal Music - it shows a UK procurement specialist can trounce the 800 pound gorillas of outsourcing," said Guy Strafford, Client Services Director for buyingTeam. "Our close relationship with Universal Music has been a key part of our success and we are looking forward to the future of our partnership."

buyingTeam's success in the OutsourcingCenter's 2008 EU Outsourcing Excellence Awards follows it winning the Payroll Giving Gold Award in both 2008 and 2007, UK Best Companies One Star Accreditation in 2007 and its CIPS Gold Accreditation in 2006. In addition to Universal Music, buyingTeam has achieved success with other major organisations:

- In an industry first British Airways worked with buyingTeam to reduce costs related to over 1900 suppliers. As British Airways focused on major strategic suppliers buyingTeam was able to rationalise other smaller scale suppliers and create a list of preferred suppliers that resulted in an improved management process for BA's entire supplier base.

- Scope, a major disability charity, identified an opportunity to reduce costs and improve quality in its expenditure on temporary staff. Working with buyingTeam, Scope is reducing expenditure in this category as well as reducing the number of temporary staff suppliers and forging important relationships with key agencies. As an additional benefit, the role of procurement in this project is highlighting the benefits of a centralised approach to purchasing in a variety of categories, promising a more efficient roll out for future procurement projects.
