Buysight Continues to Strengthen Sales and Management Team to Support Increasing Demand and Focus on Data Insights

Former Adify Executive Richard Johnson Joins as SVP of Sales; Data and Analytics Expert Don Vilen Steps in as Chief Scientist

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - October 12, 2010) -  Buysight, a leader in online performance advertising, today announced that it has hired former Adify executive Richard Johnson as senior vice president of sales. Additionally, the company has selected data and analytics expert Don Vilen to serve as chief scientist to further extend Buysight's leadership in turning e-commerce data into insights for online advertisers. In their new roles, Johnson is responsible for the management and strategic direction of all sales efforts for the company while Vilen will develop a data roadmap for the company. Also new to the Buysight sales team, Maurice Moore has joined the company as vice president of Midwest sales and strategic accounts, reporting to Johnson.

An online advertising veteran, Johnson has 10 years of experience developing successful revenue strategies for digital media companies large and small. Most recently, as SVP of media sales with Adify, Johnson built a media sales organization that contributed to the sale of the company to COX Enterprises for $300 Million. As regional sales director for ValueClick Media, Johnson was directly responsible for building the Midwest market and bringing in landmark advertisers, such as Sara Lee, Allstate, Diageo, and Kodak. In his earlier career, Johnson successfully built sales organizations for, PhotoPoint, and WeatherBug. Johnson also worked for Tiffany & Co. in the early 1990s as corporate sales associate, where he learned from top industry executives the value of customer relationships and the art of the consultative sell.

For the past two and a half years, Vilen was principal architect at Scalability Experts, working with customers around the world, guiding them through database performance, upgrade, migration, and consolidation projects. Prior to November 2007, he was on the SQL Server team in Redmond, with thirteen years of SQL Server experience at Microsoft. Additionally, Vilen is a former member of the computer science faculty at California State University in Chico, where he taught computer languages, data structures and algorithms, digital logic design, operating systems, database systems, and systems analysis. Vilen will lead Buysight in strengthening its foundation in data warehousing, analysis, algorithms, and performance, as data insight plays a vital role in the company's core business.

Moore is also an accomplished sales and business development executive with experience in both traditional and digital media and marketing solutions sales. He began his career in audience research sales with the A.C. Nielsen Company followed by media sales with ABC Radio Networks. In 2007, Adify recruited Moore to open its Midwest sales office. Under Johnson's leadership, Moore helped grow revenues by 300 percent and played a key advertising sales strategy role in the development of the first advertiser vertical network, the General Mills PlateFull Network.

"We have set a number of very aggressive goals for the company, so it's imperative that we have experienced professionals at the helm," said Shaukat Shamim, CEO of Buysight. "The dramatic sales growth while Richard was at Adify showcases the impact he had on building and growing the organization. And, with over 20 years background in computer science, particularly with complex data structures, Don has the expertise to build an architecture that will allow us to derive meaning from very large data stores and better serve our clients. Buysight is undergoing tremendous growth, and we are so thrilled to have experts like Richard and Don on our team."
