C-COM Mobile Antenna Receives Eutelsat Type Aproval for NewsSpotter Newsgathering Service

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 6, 2012) - C-COM Satellite Systems Inc., (TSX VENTURE:CMI) the leading global provider of mobile auto-deploying satellite antenna systems, today announced that it has received type approval for its iNetVu® Ka-75V antenna system from Eutelsat, the leading European satellite operator and one of the top three satellite operators in the world.

The iNetVu® Ka-75V mobile antenna system is now officially approved to operate on Eutelsat's KA-SAT High Throughput Satellite and its new-generation NewsSpotter service, and is the first vehicle mounted antenna system to receive this approval from Eutelsat.

Providing native IP connectivity, NewsSpotter is integrated for the workflows of modern newsgathering operations and is available across the footprint of Eutelsat's KA-SAT's satellite that covers Europe, North Africa and large parts of the Middle East. The service is designed to transmit High Definition and/or Standard Definition live video at transmission speeds of up to 20Mbps.

Offering a fast link from scene to screen, the NewsSpotter satellite dish and terminal can be set up in minutes, including deployment, auto pointing, and connection. Bandwidth can be reserved online by news crews using a self-booking application, or pre-booked for planned use and guaranteed reservations. Users simply log-on to the operating portal and enter their user terminal number, location, time slots and bit rate required on return and forward links.

"We have been working very closely with the Eutelsat System Integration Team over the last 6 months to ensure full compatibility with KA-SAT modems and to develop the proper interface with the iNetVu® controller. The iNetVu® system has met the Autopointing Verification Test per Eutelsat ESOG-1 Module 260 requirements as well as the RF performance testing with high level of pointing accuracy and repeatability". Said Bilal Awada, CTO of C-COM Satellite Systems Inc.

"C-COM has also developed a unique roaming feature for the NewsSpotter service. The iNetVu® system is now capable to automatically detect the beam frequency (color codes) based on GPS location and instruct the modem to acquire on the new beam seamlessly, thus relieving the end user from any manual inputs during normal operation across all Ka-Sat beams" Bilal Awada continued.

"The results of these tests and the corresponding Eutelsat aproval demonstrate the high level of accuracy and overall system quality that the iNetVu® autopointing systems deliver." Said Leslie Klein, CEO of C-COM Satellite Systems Inc.

A number of iNetVu® Ka-75V mobile antenna systems have already been delivered to European resellers. The product is now in full production and is available for immediate delivery.
