C. Curtis Financial Group Presents Complimentary Financial Management Workshop & Dinner Feb. 18

BRIGHTON, MI--(Marketwired - Feb 7, 2014) - Curt Whipple, a Certified Wealth Strategist, Certified Estate Planner and CEO of C. Curtis Financial Group, will hold a free financial management workshop and dinner 3 p.m. Feb. 18 at Ciao Amici restaurant.

During the workshop, Whipple will cover a range of personal finance concerns, including:

  • Investment strategies throughout a lifetime
  • The best way to put your IRA or 401(k) to work
  • How your IRA or 401(k) is a potential disaster
  • How heirs can inherit 100 percent of IRA or 401(k)
  • Tax increases and what you can do about them
  • Tax strategies to ensure your IRA benefits your family for generations
  • Three things annuity owners should know

"It's important to have a diverse portfolio, and many pre-retirees and retirees who come to me as prospective clients believe that's what they have. My job is to educate them about what a truly diverse portfolio consists of," says Whipple, author of "Retiree Lifeline! How to Get Government Out of Your Pocket," (http://ccurtisfinancial.com), a retirement planning guide.

"A solid retirement plan requires diversity outside of a system -- like the stock market -- that's 'too big to fail.'"

A diverse portfolio shouldn't mean that Main Street falls when Wall Street does, says Whipple, adding that retirees should have three kinds of money at their disposal:

"Blue" money, often referred to as "alternative investments," which typically include Real Estate Trusts (REITS), equipment leasing programs, precious metals such as gold and silver, high grade rare coins and collectibles.

"Green" money, which includes accounts that come with a guarantee of some sort, such as the FDIC, the Legal Reserve System, which is supported by the insurance industry, or insurance companies themselves.

"Red" money, which is to Wall Street. This includes stocks, bonds and mutual funds.
