WESTBOROUGH, MA--(Marketwire - Mar 5, 2013) - C2C, a leading provider of email archiving and information management solutions, announced today that it has released the latest version of PST Enterprise, its enterprise-class tool for discovering and migrating locally-stored and server based PST files within Microsoft® Exchange email systems.
"We've seen the term 'Dark Data' increasing applied to PSTs as they truly are the unquantified, unaccounted-for data that creates mounting risk for companies that are unaware of their contents," said Dave Hunt, CEO of C2C. "Companies usually don't realize how big the problem is until they try to effect a migration or face an eDiscovery request: it's then that the sheer size and scope of these PST files becomes evident. This is where our product excels."
"End users typically store email in PST files, making the legal and compliance e-discovery process painstakingly slow, difficult and costly," said Alan Dayley, analyst, Gartner in the September 21, 2012 research note, "Best Practices for Using Email Archiving to Eliminate PST and Mailbox Quota Headaches." "Because typical policies don't prevent end users from storing data in public folders and on personal machines with PSTs, IT has had difficulty enforcing corporate retention policies."
C2C has enhanced its PST Enterprise product help address these challenges. It now includes a new, automated batch processing scheduler, overcoming a key problem with migrations -- to avoid bottlenecks created by moving data across the network outside peak hours. C2C has also made enhancements to its auditing functions, providing a full audit trail for every PST and email that has been migrated or deleted.
Available now, C2C's PST Enterprise v2.3 operates as a stand-alone product which can be used to migrate PST data to Exchange 2010, Office 365 or alongside existing email archiving software products. Microsoft's PST Capture, provided at no charge by Microsoft, is a largely manual tool and is suitable for very specific PST migrations, PST Enterprise from C2C is provided as an automated solution requiring minimal intervention for large corporate users. More about how these two tools differ can be found on C2C's website at http://us.c2c.com/news-and-events/blog/pst-capture-tool-support-2/.
Since 1992, four million users have deployed C2C's software for email and file archiving, eDiscovery/eDisclosure, compliance management, legal forensics, and PST management within their Microsoft Exchange environments.
