C3: Time Running Out for Provincial Energy Efficiency Rebate Program

C3 urges homeowners to apply for funds before March 31

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - March 5, 2012) - After a successful multi-million-dollar three-year run, the Provincial Energy Efficiency Rebate Program - administered by Alberta's independent, non-profit energy efficiency champion,C3 - is coming to its prescribed end on March 31.

Alberta homeowners have a limited time to qualify for provincial rebates on energy efficient home upgrades that reduce GHG emissions and lower energy costs.

Incentives ranging from $250 to $10,000 are available for high efficiency furnaces and boilers, domestic hot water systems, energy efficient new homes, insulation, and home energy evaluations.

Since the program began in March 2009, C3 has processed approximately 152,000 rebates, totaling more than $40 million dollars. Purchases under the program have helped prevent more than 1.5 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.

Albertans who are interested in applying for rebate money can do so online at www.C-3.ca, or by calling C3 at 1-888-537-7202. Rebates for insulation and new home evaluations require a home energy evaluation.

Important program details are:

  • Furnace/boiler or domestic hot water: Eligible models must be purchased and installed on or before March 31, 2012, and applications and supporting documents must be submitted to C3 online or be postmarked on or before April 30, 2012.
  • Insulation and home energy evaluation: Applicants must complete a post-retrofit evaluation on or before March 31, 2012.
  • New home: Applicants must receive an EnerGuide label on or before March 31, 2012 and a certificate of possession on or before April 30, 2012. Applications and documentation must be submitted to C3 online or be postmarked on or before April 30, 2012.
