C5 Plus Ltd.: New System of Communicating Indoor Air Quality

New system of communicating indoor air quality in buildings reaches two-thirds of premier Calgary office space

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - July 17, 2007) - The quality of air inside downtown office buildings is a consistent concern for the occupants of those properties. Surveys of those occupants continually find that indoor air quality (IAQ) is perceived as one of their most serious health risks while at work.

It is one thing for the quality of air to be assessed and another thing for that information to be properly disseminated to all the concerned occupants. A Calgary-based environmental management firm, C5 Plus Ltd(1), has addressed that concern through the development of a unique Internet-based system of communicating the IAQ assessment information to all interested parties. The secure system, which is available 24/7, is known as Communicair and has already been adopted by many Calgary office building managers and their major tenants. It currently encompasses approximately two-thirds of leasable premier downtown office space.

"There is an increasing demand for high quality office space in modern office buildings in high growth markets," says Dr. John Dean, President, C5 Plus Ltd. "Property owners see a very good fit between a disciplined and focused strategy to property management and the C5 Plus Communicair System of IAQ management. It supports the strategy of providing premier tenant space to elite tenants and may be a significant differentiator for attracting and retaining high quality tenants."

"The major energy sector companies feel that in today's competitive market for high quality staff, Communicair is helping to ensure a quality workplace environment," adds Dean. "They also recognize that 'sick building' complaints and subsequent employee sick days can have an impact on group performance and bottom line profits. The Communicair system of managing their IAQ concerns and subsequent lost time has a significantly positive impact."

Current users of Communicair include Devon Canada, Canadian Natural Resources Ltd, Brookfield Properties and Oxford Properties, and represent 10 million square feet, or approximately two-thirds of leasable premier office space in downtown Calgary.
