As Canada's premier traffic safety advocate, representing 255,000 Members, CAA North & East Ontario (CAANEO) plays an important role in reducing the effects of climate change. As such, CAA North & East Ontario is thrilled to announce its recent acquisition - a new 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid from Campbell Ford, a proud CAANEO Approved Auto Repair Service (AARS) facility. By purchasing the 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid, the Club reiterates its pledge to be environmentally responsible.

The vehicle will help promote this important and growing issue, especially when coupled with our Great Battery Roundup, Eco-Driving mini-site and ongoing lobbying efforts. Additionally, CAANEO takes every opportunity possible to educate both our Members and motorists in general regarding fuel-efficiency tips and is proud of CAA National's partnership with Pollution Probe to present a primer on automobile fuel efficiency and emissions.

"Climate Change is one of CAANEO's "Four Pillars" for safety and advocacy, and as such we will continue to engage individuals, automakers and governments in adopting greener lifestyles and policies in order to slow the adverse effects of carbon emissions on our environment," said Korey Kennedy, Manager of Public & Government Affairs for CAANEO. "Our balanced approach encourages preservation of our environment while also maintaining personal mobility. We believe in creating policies and solutions that are practical and economically feasible, with costs that are equal to or less than the environmental benefits they offer."

With transportation emissions in Canada accounting for approximately 30% of all carbon emissions, if we are truly serious about lowering carbon emissions, purchasing a fuel-efficient or hybrid vehicle is a great place to start. Ultimately, we must adopt eco-friendly initiatives and practices while we still have an environment to protect.

By challenging and changing our personal behaviours as well as those of industry and governments, we can make a difference. CAANEO values the importance of being environmentally responsible, and encourages all Canadian motorists to do their utmost to adopt greener lifestyles today.

For over 100 years, the Canadian Automobile Association has provided travel, Emergency Road Services, insurance, and advocacy for its Members. CAA North & East Ontario continues to be the leading membership organization by recognizing and promoting its heritage and integrity in the community, while maximizing Members' value.
