CAA North & East Ontario Recognizes Excellence in Local Hospitality

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 7, 2012) - CAA North & East Ontario (CAANEO) is pleased to announce that five hotels and two restaurants in the North & East Ontario region have been named to the prestigious CAA/AAA Four Diamond list for 2012, a testament to the excellence in hospitality that exists locally.

Area lodgings and restaurants receiving the coveted Four Diamond Award include (number of consecutive years in parenthesis): Perspectives Restaurant (9); The Capital Dining Room (5); Brookstreet (9); Fairmont Château Laurier (15); Minto Suite Hotel (18); Ottawa Marriott Hotel (5); The Westin Ottawa (29).

The establishments in North & East Ontario that received the Four Diamond Award are part of a select group representing the highest ranks of the hospitality industry. Only 4.8 percent of the 31,000 CAA/AAA rated lodgings and 2.7 percent of the 28,000 CAA/AAA approved restaurants received a Four Diamond rating, for a total of 2,245 establishments throughout Canada, the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean obtaining this honour. The Westin Ottawa is one of the 95 hotels that have been able to maintain Four Diamond status for 25 or more consecutive years.

"Four Diamond hotels and restaurants are consistently committed to ensuring every guest is treated to a high standard of personal comfort and service," said Korey Kennedy, Manager of Public and Government Affairs for CAANEO. "To attain and maintain this recognition in hospitality excellence is a significant achievement that each of these establishments should be proud of. CAA North & East Ontario is honoured to recognize these dedicated local establishments with the Four Diamond rating."

CAA/AAA's rating system is the only one that covers all of North America and one of only two that conduct physical, on-site evaluations. Rating more properties than any other entity, professionally trained CAA/AAA inspectors use published guidelines to evaluate establishments on an annual basis.

To be eligible for evaluation, properties must meet basic requirements during an unannounced inspection. Once designated as CAA/AAA Approved, inspectors then assign a rating of One to Five Diamonds based on the extensiveness of services, quality of the facilities and available amenities.

For more than 100 years, the Canadian Automobile Association has provided travel, emergency road services, insurance and advocacy for its Members.
