CAA North & East Ontario Recognizes Excellence in Local Hospitality

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 12, 2013) - CAA North & East Ontario (CAANEO) is pleased to announce that five hotels and three restaurants in the North and East Ontario region have been named to the prestigious CAA/AAA Four Diamond list for 2013, a testament to the excellence in local hospitality.

Area lodgings and restaurants receiving the coveted Four Diamond Award include (number of consecutive years in parenthesis): Beckta Dining & Wine (9); Perspectives Restaurant (10); The Capital Dining Room (6); Brookstreet (10); Fairmont Château Laurier (16); Minto Suite Hotel (19); Ottawa Marriott Hotel (6); The Westin Ottawa (30).

With a remarkable 30 years of maintaining a Four Diamond status, The Westin Ottawa is one of only 110 lodgings to uphold this prestigious designation for 25 or more consecutive years.

The establishments in North and East Ontario that received the Four Diamond Award are part of a select group representing the highest ranks of the hospitality industry. Only 5.1 percent of the 30,000 CAA/AAA rated hotels and 2.6 percent of the 29,000 CAA/AAA approved restaurants received a Four Diamond rating, for a total of 2,289 establishments throughout Canada, the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean obtaining the honour this year.

"To attain and maintain this recognition in hospitality excellence is a significant achievement that each of these establishments should take pride in," said Korey Kennedy, Manager of Public & Government Affairs for CAANEO. "CAA North & East Ontario is proud to be able to recognize these dedicated local businesses with the Four Diamond rating."

CAA/AAA's rating system is the only one that covers all of Canada, the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean. Rating more properties than any other entity, professionally trained CAA/AAA inspectors use published guidelines to evaluate establishments on an annual basis.

To be eligible for evaluation, properties must meet basic requirements during an unannounced inspection. Once designated as 'CAA/AAA Approved', inspectors assign each establishment with a rating of One to Five Diamonds based on the extensiveness of services, quality of the facilities and available amenities.
