Cablemas, Cedar Point Communications Team Up for Expanded Voice Deployments in Mexico

DERRY, NH and MEXICO D.F., MEXICO--(Marketwire - June 25, 2008) - Cedar Point Communications, Inc., a worldwide leader in integrated Voice over IP (VoIP) switching technologies for service providers and enterprise telecommunications operators, and Cablemas S.A. of Mexico today announced an expansion of the relationship between the two companies in conjunction with deployment of Cablemas voice services in four new markets.

The agreement calls for Cablemas to utilize Cedar Point's SAFARI C3 Multimedia Switching System for the delivery of IP Telephony service to the cities of Cozumel, Ixtapaluca, Minatitlan and Tijuana, as part of their ongoing roll out of voice services. Cablemas delivers video and high speed data to almost 1 million subscribers in Tijuana, Juarez, Cancun, Ensenada, Mexicali, Cozumel, Merida, Acapulco and other locations.

"The delivery of high-quality, highly reliable telephony services is a win-win for cable system operators and customers," said Carlos Alvarez, CEO. "Our early deployments have demonstrated that IP Telephony is a significant driver of new revenue; at the same time, we are bringing increased choice to residents and businesses within our market footprint."

"Our ability to expand confidently into these new markets is due in large measure to the quality of the SAFARI C3 Multimedia Switching System and the support we've received from Cedar Point Communications," said Arnold Meiselman, COO of Cablemas. "The simplicity and cost effectiveness of SAFARI C3 has helped us to quickly turn up IP Telephony service and gain market share," added Cecilia Pedraza, CTO of Cablemas.

"Cablemas' willingness to innovate and its insistence on high-quality service have been keys to their success throughout the deployment process," said Christopher Zanyk, vice president, sales, North American Region and CALA for Cedar Point Communications. "We are pleased that they recognize the value proposition of SAFARI C3, and we look forward to playing a greater role in the delivery of VoIP services in the future."

Latin Broadband, a sales and distribution arm to cable operators in Latin America, assisted on behalf of Cedar Point, in the completion of the agreement.

Cedar Point has shipped more than four million SAFARI C3 lines to customers in the Americas, the Caribbean and Europe. SAFARI C3 supports up to 250,000 lines of capacity in less than a cubic yard of space, incorporating all of the components that make up the voice switching infrastructure and delivering the best total cost of ownership available. It is being deployed for residential and business services by a diverse customer base that includes Cable System Operators, Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs), Wireless Operators and Universities.
