CalAmp and Elster Announce Partnership for Wireless Smart Grid Solutions

OXNARD, CA and RALEIGH, NC--(Marketwire - September 10, 2009) - CalAmp Corp. (NASDAQ: CAMP), a leading provider of wireless products, services and solutions, today announced a partnership with Elster, a leader in smart grid solutions, to provide a customized WiMAX-based version of CalAmp's Dataradio Sentry 4G™ Wireless IP Router. This new rugged broadband communications and networking platform has been developed for mobile/converged networks for smart grid applications as part of Elster's EnergyAxis® System's smart metering and smart grid offerings.

CalAmp's customized Sentry 4G provides high-speed, long-range broadband wireless connectivity based on industrial grade IEEE 802.16e-2005 (mobile WiMAX) technology. When used as part of Elster's EnergyAxis System, it is expected to provide best-in-class performance for smart grid activities including advanced metering, demand response and distribution automation as well as mobile applications such as fleet management.
