Calgarians Come Together Once Again in Support of Heart at the Beat Goes on Gala

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Sept. 12, 2015) - On Saturday, September 12th, 450 Calgarians from all walks of life, joined together at the second annual Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta's The Beat Goes On Gala, in support of cardiovascular sciences research, education and care delivery. Net proceeds from this year's gala, which exceed $450,000, will support efforts in congenital heart disease research and care delivery, health promotion, and disease prevention.

"The evening was a smashing success and once again I am humbled by the incredible support our community has given The Beat Goes On Gala," says Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta's Director, Dr. Todd Anderson. "Even through difficult economic times, the generosity from Calgarians shines through. It is reassuring to the Libin Cardiovascular Institute that our vision of ever improving exceptional cardiovascular care, enabled by research and education, is shared by the people of this great city."

Through the evening guests enjoyed a program emceed by gala co-chair Ken King, featuring exceptional food and tremendous performances by Juno Award winner Jesse Cook and piano prodigy 10-year-old Kevin Chen.

Behind every success story there are champions and for this gala co-chairs Tony Dilawri, Partner of the Dilawri Group of Companies and Ken King, President and CEO, Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation deserve special recognition. Their efforts were tireless with engaging the community, guiding the organizing team, and being true ambassadors for the Libin Cardiovascular Institute.
