Calgary Food Bank Lands Large Donation From Calgary Airport Authority and YYC Community

CALGARY, AB--(Marketwired - October 02, 2016) - As YYC readies to open to the world, the Calgary Airport Authority, stakeholders and community gathered on Saturday evening for the official unveiling of Calgary International Airport's new International Terminal. "It is wonderful to have the Calgary Airport Authority and its community recognize, through this donation, the contributions the Calgary Food Bank makes, especially at a time when we head into our busiest season," Calgary Food Bank CEO, James McAra, explained. "This generous donation will go a long way to help families in crisis."

"The Calgary Food Bank's support to Calgarians is incredibly important," said Garth Atkinson, President and CEO of the Calgary Airport Authority. "The Authority and YYC community really rallied together in making this donation a reality and I am really proud that collectively we could also a play a small role in helping the Calgary community."

Since the downturn in the Alberta economy two years ago, the Calgary Food Bank has seen a steady increase in need as people's savings and severance packages run out.
