Calgary Food Bank: Put the Boots to Hunger - Help Kick Hunger to the Curb

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - July 8, 2011) - Calgary law firm Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer (BD&P) has kicked off their annual Put The Boots To Hunger campaign in support of the Calgary Food Bank.

This is the third year for the annual campaign, and as in past years, BD&P will kick off the campaign with a $200,000 contribution. The BD&P culture is shaped by their involvement in their community and a belief in corporate responsibility that is "always on." Wherever possible, BD&P is stepping up and doing more.

"We are so proud to be in partnership with the Food Bank," said Harry Campbell, Vice Chair with BD&P. "Put the Boots to Hunger, which started out as an idea to help bridge support for the Food Bank during the rough economic times in 2009, has now become a successful annual initiative."

BD&P's goal is to raise an additional $400,000 for the campaign. They are confident that Calgarians will show their support and help achieve this goal.

There are so many ways Calgarians can participate in Put the Boots to Hunger – a quick visit to www.puthebootstohunger.com will provide a seemingly endless list of Stampede events committed to supporting the campaign.

In an amazing act of generosity, the Calgary Food Bank has two chuckwagons in this year's GMC Rangeland Derby: Jordie Fike will be driving the Put the Boots to Hunger chuckwagon, while the Friends of the Calgary Food Bank wagon will be driven by Colt Cosgrave. Don't miss it!

Put the Boots to Hunger is an important annual campaign. Last year, more than 140,000 Calgarians received food from the Calgary Food Bank's Emergency Food Hamper program; 40% were children.

Companies and individuals can support Put the Boots to Hunger with a quick phone call to the Calgary Food Bank for materials, ideas and support in helping lead the charge to feed hungry Calgarians.
