Calgary Homeless Foundation: "Hope for Humanity" Rose Provides Hope to End Homelessness

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - May 16, 2012) - Calgarians can help end homelessness during the Victoria Day long weekend by purchasing a "Hope for Humanity" rose bush from greengate Garden Centres in support of the Calgary Homeless Foundation (CHF). Over the past nine years, greengate Garden Centres has raised more than $29,000 by donating the proceeds from the sale of the "Hope for Humanity" rose to the CHF.

"It's really a win-win situation," said Peggy Telford, owner of the greengate Garden Centres. "As you buy a hardy and beautiful rose bush, you also support Calgarians rebuilding their lives."

The "Hope for Humanity" rose is a low-growing, ever-blooming hardy rose. The beautiful, double blood red blooms are produced over a 10- to 14-week period, starting in late June and continuing on the during the season's growth.

"We really value our long-term partnership with greengate Garden Centres," said Tim Richter, president and CEO of the Calgary Homeless Foundation. "Not only do they contribute proceeds from the 'Hope for Humanity' rose, they also help us beautify the yards at our affordable housing buildings across Calgary."

greengate Garden Centres is located at 14111 Macleod Trail South, Calgary and is open from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, seven days a week.
