Calgary Parking Authority Transitioning to Normal Operations

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - June 27, 2013) - The Calgary Parking Authority (CPA) is transitioning to normal operations beginning today.

Regular rates will be in effect in select on-street ParkPlus zones and in CPA surface lots and parkades.

Payment for on-street parking will only be required for ParkPlus zones located north of 9 Avenue, south of 2 Avenue, west of 2 Street SW and east of 11 Street SW. See attached map for details. Payment will not be required for any ParkPlus zones outside of this area until further notice.

Until the emergency is lifted, 100% of on-street and daily surface lot parking revenue will be allocated to flood relief efforts.

"As the city begins to return to normal operations in the downtown area we need to ensure that parked vehicles are not impacting access to businesses and more importantly, flood relief efforts," said General Manager Troy McLeod. "This change will help better manage traffic flow and vehicle volume in the downtown area and ensure access for transit, flood relief vehicles and other traffic."

Enforcement activities will transition to normal operations starting today. Enforcement will focus on public safety and traffic flow issues, and work with citizens to move vehicles in flood-affected areas using courteousy towing. They will also be monitoring posted time restrictions outside of flood-affected areas.

CPA will continue to relax enforcement in Residential Parking Permit (RPP) zones and flooded areas to accommodate displaced citizens. CPA will continue to issue temporary residential parking permits to those displaced by the flood.

"Our goal is to ensure our streets are safe and accessible for flood recovery operations," said McLeod. "On behalf of the Calgary Parking Authority, I would also like to acknowledge those impacted by the flood. Even though paid parking is required in some areas, 100% of these funds are being allocated to flood relief efforts."

The CPA will work with those affected by the flood and provide complimentary parking arrangements where possible. For more information, please contact 403-537-7000.

Due to road closures, access to some on-street parking is limited. Please check for updates on road closures.

Some CPA surface lots have restricted access, please check for information on availability.

The following CPA parkades are operational: City Centre, Centennial, James Short and McDougall. Please check for updated information on our other parkades.
