Calian Continues Customer Diversification With Several New Emergency Response Preparedness Training Contracts

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Nov. 18, 2015) - Calian (TSX:CTY) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded two small but key beachhead contracts in Emergency Response Preparedness Training with Emergency Management British Columbia and the City of Kingston in addition to new contracts with Bruce Power earlier this year.

"Calian possesses unique experience in the design, development and delivery of the complete range of emergency management training, education and exercise activities - from comparatively simple one-day seminars to the most complex and demanding multi-jurisdiction, multi-disciplinary exercises," said Jerry Johnston, VP Training & Engineering Services, Calian.

Calian will assist Emergency Management British Columbia with the design, development, conduct, evaluation and after action reporting for 'Exercise Coastal Response'; an exercise in direct support of the province's new 'Earthquake Immediate Response Plan' (IRP).

Earlier this year, Calian led a customized, scenario-based training program for the City of Kingston's emergency response teams and high level officials, simulating complex emergency situations and testing the city's existing emergency response protocols. Calian issued a comprehensive after action report that included a detailed overview of training needs, gaps and next steps.

Calian also continues to work with Bruce Power to design, develop and support their Emergency Response Preparedness Corporate Exercises for 2015 and 2016. This builds on the very successful multi-year relationship that has grown between the two companies. Along with partners C4I Consultants and Bubble Technology Industries, who will provide nuclear subject-matter expertise, Calian will assist Bruce Power as it develops and implements a demanding and sophisticated two-year training, education and exercise cycle.

"These new contracts demonstrate the strength and expertise of Calian's training team," said Kevin Ford, President and Chief Executive Officer, Calian. "We are well positioned to continue to grow this segment of our business, and provide government and private organizations alike with world class training capabilities."

Calian will be at The Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity Conference (EPBC), held on November 17th to 19th at the Sheraton Wall Centre Hotel in Vancouver, BC.
