California Water Taps Indicative for Service Delivery Management

Indicative 8.0's Fully Integrated Real-User Monitoring (RUM) to Play Key Role in Discerning Problems Before They Impact Critical PeopleSoft Application Systems Used Internally

FORT COLLINS, CO--(Marketwire - June 5, 2007) - Indicative Software today announced that California Water Service Company (Cal Water), one of the largest water utilities in the United States, chose Indicative's enterprise management product as a strategic means to avert adverse impacts that information technology problems could have upon its business-critical services.

Cal Water takes pride in providing high-quality customer service. The company, which is a subsidiary of California Water Service Group (NYSE: CWT), delivers water to more than 500,000 homeowners and businesses in 28 water districts throughout California.

The company depends upon PeopleSoft application systems to provide its employees access to customer information, financials, and human resources information.

"We are dedicated to giving both external and internal customers the best service, and our use of information technology goes a long way towards achieving our service goals," said Dennis Jeffrey, director of information systems at Cal Water. "Indicative gives us the ability to proactively monitor and manage our IT enterprise from end to end, so that we're discovering problems before service is impacted."

The company had a particular interest in Indicative's real-user monitoring, or RUM capability. RUM is an add-on module released with Indicative 8.0 that works seamlessly within Indicative's extensible core architecture to passively monitor user interactions with a given service. An appliance is used to capture any and all user sessions (referencing IP addresses, only). RUM complements the more than 2,000 other passive and active tests within the product, which continuously monitor performance of infrastructure and applications within and beyond the firewall.

"Indicative RUM includes robust reporting and analysis of Web-based applications, and will help Cal Water monitor any slowdowns in its internal Web-based services," said Les Murphy, Indicative's chief technology officer. "Its IT organization now has the ability to rapidly pinpoint any problems that can cause a service interruption or slowdown."

The company also regards Indicative as a valuable means for capacity planning and IT growth management as it expands services to more and more customers.

"Cal Water is the latest of our customers to discover just how valuable managing for service delivery is to their businesses," said Lacy H. Edwards, Indicative CEO. "Indicative's service-level management approach continues to get high marks for its ability to address real problems without encumbering IT with the unnecessarily burdensome complexity inherent with conventional, event-based tools."
