California Woman Who Sang National Anthem in All 50 States Makes History Again

Janine Stange Sang National Anthem 24 Times in 24 Hours for Lacrosse Event Benefiting Wounded Soldiers

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwired - August 03, 2015) - Janine “National Anthem Girl” Stange, who made history in 2014 as the first to sing the "Star-Spangled Banner" in all 50 states, made patriotic history for a second time. Stange became the first to sing our nation’s anthem every hour for a day in the finale of the five-state Shootout for Soldiers event. Stange’s record 24 performances in 24 hours concluded on Saturday, Aug. 1, the birth date of Francis Scott Key who wrote the national anthem’s lyrics as a poem in 1814.

Shootout for Soldiers began at Dana Hills High School in Dana Point, Calif. on Friday, July 31 at 5:38pm. The lacrosse even continued through the night and concluded on Saturday, Aug. 1, with Janine's last anthem performance at 4:14pm.

“The organizers of Shootout for Soldiers are a testament to the hearts of young Americans who are choosing to use their talents to make an impact,” says Stange, a Los Angeles resident and native of Long Island, N.Y. “I’m humbled to have been part of such a patriotic effort.”

Forty-eight lacrosse teams from around the region fundraised to participate in the event. With each team rotation every hour, a folded American Flag was held by a veteran as she sang each time. Stange will auction the flag on eBay and donate 100% of the proceeds to the Gary Sinise Foundation. The flag will mark the first in a series of 50 that Stange will auction in an effort to raise awareness and funds for those who embody the meaning of the “Star-Spangled Banner.”

Stange’s first patriotic mission was completed when she sang prior to the Titans vs. Vikings NFL preseason game in Nashville on Aug. 28, 2014. She has appeared on Today Show, Fox & Friends and NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt. Her story has been told across America on every major network. She continues to sing and speak at various events throughout the country and provides thank you cards for audiences to sign for members of our military, which are placed into Operation Gratitude care packages.
