California Women's Conference to Share Proceeds With Area Goodwill Organizations

LONG BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - May 31, 2012) - The California Women's Conference, debuting this fall, and Goodwill are extending a limited invitation to businesses and individuals to purchase and/or promote presale tickets to the 2012 California Women's Conference. The benefit of this early availability of the tickets is enhanced by the charitable donation that area Goodwill organizations will receive from each ticket sale of this exclusive offer. Goodwill organizations included in this special promotion include Goodwill of Orange County, Goodwill of Southern Los Angeles County (Long Beach) and Goodwill Southern California (Los Angeles, North of Rosecrans, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties).

This is a new conference intended to take the place of the California Governor and First Lady's Conference on Women. Historically, this conference was hosted by California's First Ladies, and had become one of the most prominent and in-demand events in California. In the last few years, tickets sold out within the first four hours, rarely allowing availability to the general public.

This year's conference is scheduled for September 23rd and 24th, 2012 at the Long Beach Convention Center, and the theme is the "The Women's Economy Starts Here," featuring a vast marketplace of ideas, exhibits, and internationally known speakers. Included in the star-studded lineup are Donna Karan, Gloria Allred, Marcia Cross, Patricia Arquette and many more top name speakers.

Joining together with a cohesive mission, The California Women's Conference aims to motivate women entrepreneurs and business leaders to achieve professional, personal and philanthropic success, while Goodwill helps people to earn a living, improve lives and strengthen families and communities.

Exclusive access to pre-sale tickets for attending the 2012 California Women's Conference is available from May 15th through May 30th. To purchase tickets and to learn more, please visit www.CaliforniaWomensConference.com/Goodwill.

About the history and tradition of the California Governor & First Lady Conference on Women
The spiritual predecessor of the California Women's Conference, namely the California Governor & First Lady's Conference on Women, was an annual non-partisan event, and was created in 1985 by then-Governor George Deukmejian, to address the high failure rate among women-owned businesses by giving women entrepreneurs greater access to funding and other helpful resources. Selecting the city of Long Beach as the event's host, city officials and businesses quickly became enthusiastic supporters. Then-First Lady Gloria Deukmejian assumed responsibility for the conference, which became known as the California Governor and First Lady's Conference. In the recent past, this conference became a star-studded event. Past speakers have included: His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, First Lady Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, Barbara Walters, Jane Fonda, Queen Noor of Jordan, Tyra Banks, Martha Stewart, Madeline Albright, Condoleeza Rice, and many others. Today, the tradition of enthusiastically serving women-owned businesses continues under the stewardship of Michelle Patterson, CEO of Event Complete.
