California's Tulare County Puts SOA in Action

Targets Real-Time Information Sharing With the Fiorano SOA Platform™

County's Justice Department to Deliver Accelerated Services Using Fiorano SOA

LOS GATOS, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 2, 2007 -- Fiorano Software, Inc., a leader in standards-based business process integration and messaging infrastructure, today announced that Tulare County, California has selected the Fiorano SOA platform to enable real-time information exchange by integrating applications at different county departments involved in the justice process, such as, the Court, District Attorney, Probation, Public Defender and Sheriff.

"Improving the operational efficiency of its Justice machinery was a priority for the County," said Mr. Eric Prosser, Chief Information Technology Officer of the County.

"The challenge was integrating several disparate information systems that required constant manual intervention and coordination for exchange of data. While a long term, scalable solution became an imperative; the County also had to work within its budgetary constraints."

"The goal was to streamline delivery of services, we conducted a stringent technical Proof of Concept to evaluate various solutions," explains Mr. Prosser. "Fiorano was selected for its ease of use, inherent design advantages and affordability. With the Fiorano SOA Platform, the County will establish a solid foundation for an incremental move to a Service-Oriented-Architecture, based on standards and maximize utilization of its existing IT infrastructure investment."

"In addition, ordering activities are easy since Fiorano has an existing GSA for sale of products to Government," he added.

"While many are still pondering SOA, the County of Tulare has taken a lead in adopting Enterprise Service Bus technology and applying it to improve administration of justice across the county," remarked Atul Saini, CEO & CTO, Fiorano Software Inc.

"Fiorano SOA is particularly suited for Government implementations for two important reasons," points out Mr. Saini, "Firstly, its unique, distributed, event-based, peer-to-peer architecture allows easy scalability and extensibility across an existing heterogeneous IT infrastructure; secondly, Fiorano's visual tools for process orchestration and data transformation give flexibility to business users to change business processes quickly with little or no programming effort."
