Call Center Employees Represented by Nichols Kaster, PLLP File Suit Against AT&T Subsidiary Michigan Bell Telephone Company

DETROIT, MI--(Marketwire - March 4, 2009) - On Tuesday, March 3, 2009, call center employees represented by Nichols Kaster, PLLP filed suit against Michigan Bell Telephone Company, a subsidiary of AT&T. Named Plaintiffs Scott A. Fisher and Jesse J. LaForest have brought this suit individually, and on behalf of similarly situated individuals in Michigan Bell's call centers. These Plaintiffs, as well as the similarly situated individuals, were required to log on to numerous computer applications before the beginning of their regularly scheduled shifts as well as perform work during their meal breaks and after their shifts. Plaintiffs' attorney David Schlesinger stated, "This appears to be widespread. Workers at AT&T call centers across the country state that they are to be ready to take a call at the start of their shifts and they are therefore required to log in to a long series of computer applications beforehand. Workers at these call centers also perform uncompensated work during their lunch breaks and after their shifts to meet AT&T's performance expectations." This suit follows actions brought by employees at Illinois Bell, Wisconsin Bell, AT&T and BellSouth Telecommunications.

The Plaintiffs are represented by James H. Kaster and David E. Schlesinger of Nichols Kaster, PLLP, which has offices in Minneapolis, Minnesota and San Francisco, California.
