Call for Nominations Issued for 2016 BC Aboriginal Business Awards

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - April 22, 2016) - The BC Achievement Foundation has issued the 2016 Call for Nominations for the prestigious BC Aboriginal Business award. The deadline for 2016 nominations is June 30, 2016.

"The foundation encourages nominations that highlight the work and success of aboriginal entrepreneurs of all sizes and types—small, medium and large companies, business partnerships, and community-owned businesses in every possible field of business activity," says Keith Mitchell, chair of the BC Achievement Foundation. "These awards showcase the best of aboriginal businesses in British Columbia and highlight their contributions to the province's economy."

The BC Aboriginal Business Awards recognize business excellence in the following categories: Young Entrepreneur, Business Partnership, Community-Owned and Business-of-the-Year awards for one-to-two-person enterprises, three-to-10-person enterprises, and enterprises with 10 or more persons. The 2015 awardees showcased unique, successful business ventures from construction companies; communications firms; a day care; retail hardware store; and chiropractic medicine to logging companies. The independent jury panel considers the success and sustainability of the business as part of their deliberations.

Awardees are celebrated at a Vancouver gala presentation set for October 19, 2016 marking the eighth annual event. Last year's celebration welcomed over 650 guests and honoured 16 awardees. Past awardees say it is a thrill to have their enterprises lauded by the business community and that the spotlight on their entrepreneurship served as a change agent for future success.
