Call for Nominations: Red Herring 100 North America

Private Technology Companies Are Invited to Apply Online

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 25, 2006 -- Red Herring announced today that it is now accepting nominations for its annual Red Herring 100 North America award program for private technology companies. The deadline for submission is February 22, 2006. The winners will be announced at the Red Herring Spring Conference 2006, to be held on May 23-25 in Monterey, California.

Red Herring's lists of private companies are an important part of the magazine's tradition of identifying new and innovative technology start-ups and their entrepreneurial founders. Since 1996 technology industry executives, investors, and observers have regarded the Red Herring 100 lists as an invaluable instrument for discovering and advocating the most promising private ventures in the following categories: Biosciences, Communications, Computing, Energy, Entertainment & Media, Internet & Services, and Security & Defense.

Eligible for consideration are privately owned technology companies headquartered in North America (the United States, Canada, and Mexico). Nominations may come from either companies or third parties. Submissions will only be accepted online through the Red Herring Spring 2006 conference web site at http://www.herringevents.com/rhspring06 and must be received by February 22, 2006.

A group of Red Herring editorial judges will review each nomination. The editors will assess nominees on both quantitative and qualitative criteria such as financial performance, technology innovation, quality of management, execution of strategy, and integration into their ecosystem. Red Herring's global perspective, provocative outlook on the technology landscape, and Red Herring Innovation Index make this list unique and invaluable to technology and financial executives.

The Red Herring 100 North America companies will benefit from exclusive visibility through individual profiles in Red Herring magazine and online profiles at RedHerring.com. Additionally, they will be invited to present before an exclusive audience of C-level entrepreneurs, corporate strategists, and over 40 venture capital funds at the Red Herring Spring 2006 conference, held May 23-25 in Monterey, California.

Themed "The Pursuit of Disruption," Red Herring Spring 2006 is an invitation-only gathering for C-level entrepreneurs, investors, and corporate strategists to meet and discuss business initiatives while learning about disruptive forces in the business of technology.
