Callinan Expands its Fox River Holdings

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - June 6, 2006) - Callinan Mines is pleased to announce the acquisition of an additional 52,037 hectares of mineral exploration licenses in the Fox River area of Manitoba.

This acquisition brings the company's total land package in the area to 167,729 ha. The ground hosts numerous magnetic and electromagnetic anomalies that represent favourable exploration targets in this highly under-explored area.

Callinan President and CEO Mike Muzylowski expressed his satisfaction at this expansion. "The new mineral licenses have expanded our holdings all the way north to the community of Gillam, and to the rail lines. This is important ground and we will carry out exploration work on several of these new targets."

The Fox River Belt is widely believed to be a potential host of nickel bearing sulphide structures similar to those in Thompson, Manitoba. Pulse EM tests on grid 07-5 have located a very strong, flat lying geophysical conductor. This target is of interest because of its occurrence along the extension of the Nickel Belt North East of Thompson. It is also adjacent to the platinum and palladium bearing Fox River Sill.

Callinan's efforts in the Fox River camp are conducted under a joint venture with Bell Resources on properties held under option from W. Bruce Dunlop Limited.

The Project is being carried out under the supervision of P.J. DeVeaux, a qualified person as defined under National Instrument 43-101.
