Callinan Mines Limited-Summer Program Underway at Coles Creek

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - June 23, 2006) - Callinan Mines Limited has commenced a summer exploration program to test mineralized areas on its Coles Creek Project near Houston, B.C.

Callinan President Mike Muzylowski and Chief Geologist Pat DeVeaux have planned an initial nine-hole program from five different setups. Two of the holes are designed to test the depth extension of rock outcroppings containing significant copper, gold, silver and molybdenum mineralization.

Mr. Muzylowski, who held the claims personally for 10 years before they were optioned to Callinan Mines, said he is "optimistic" about the exploration program, noting: "I was attracted to this property in the 1970s because of silt sampling results, and last year, I was even more encouraged when our prospecting team uncovered promising surface mineralization that confirmed the initial surveys."

Mr. Muzylowski added that the rock mineralization, geochemical and IP anomalies on the Coles Creek property occur over a three kilometre area. Two areas of highly mineralized rock samples were located about 1.5 km apart. One area, with chip samples grading 0.25% to 2.62% copper, 0.040 to 3.05g/t gold, and 0.051% to 0.403% molybdenum will likely be the site of the first diamond drill hole. A second area, containing samples assaying at 33 g/t to 1181 g/t silver, 0.21% to 9.33% lead, 0.4% to 1.03% zinc will also be drill tested.

Callinan's 1,210-hectare Coles Creek property is located 10 km southeast of the Huckleberry copper mine and 70 km north east the Equity Silver Mine near Houston, BC.

The Callinan exploration program is under the supervision of geologist DeVeaux, a qualified person as defined by national instrument 43-101. Ranex Exploration, Peter E. Walcott & Associates Ltd. and Cyr Drilling International are handling line cutting, IP surveys and diamond drilling programs, respectively.
