Calling All Educators! Be Inspired at The Henry Ford's Teacher Appreciation Day

September 26 Event Offers Teachers Free Admission to All of The Henry Ford's Exciting, Educational Attractions

DEARBORN, MI--(Marketwire - September 18, 2009) - Educators are invited to kick off the school year with a hefty dose of inspiration at The Henry Ford's Teacher Appreciation Day, September 26. Teachers and a guest of their choice will enjoy free admission all day to Henry Ford Museum, Greenfield Village, the Ford Rouge Factory Tour and The Henry Ford IMAX Theatre, and learn about The Henry Ford's vast educational resources.

Doors will open for this special event at 8:30 a.m. in the lobby of The Henry Ford IMAX Theatre, with a welcome and overview beginning at 9 a.m. in Henry Ford Museum's Anderson Theater. Education staff will share information about exciting new programs and online resources as well as field trip scholarships. For those who want to become more actively involved, the new Henry Ford Teacher Fellows will be in hand to answer questions. While exploring The Henry Ford, teachers can experience the many varied learning opportunities available for their students, from such curriculum-aligned exhibits as "With Liberty And Justice For All" and "Heroes of the Sky," to building a Model T inside Henry Ford Museum, to operating the same complex tools used on the F-150 assembly line at the Ford Rouge Factory Tour. Educational films on Michigan's largest IMAX screen are available for viewing in The Henry Ford IMAX Theatre, and historical figures such as Thomas Edison and the Wright brothers come to life through dramatic presentations inside Greenfield Village.

As a special treat, complimentary coffee and bagels from Panera Bread will be provided, and educators can browse the Fall Farmer's Market in Greenfield Village, one of The Henry Ford's many programs that celebrate local and historic foodways. Dozens of merchants will be on-site with local produce, meats, vegetables, flowers, seeds, gifts and more available for purchase.
