Calling All Indie Game Developers: FunPlus Seeks the Best to Win the 2016 IndiePlus Award

Held During GDC 2016, Winning Indie Developer to Receive Grand Prize of $10,000

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Jan 22, 2016) - Today FunPlus announced that submissions are open for its second annual IndiePlus contest. Indie game developers are invited to submit their games for consideration now through February 26. The winners of IndiePlus will be announced at the FunPlus GDC Party on March 15, with the grand prize winner receiving a $10,000 prize. Developers may visit http://indieplus2016.funplus.com/ for more details, rules and submission information.

Game submissions will be judged by a panel of five notable game developers, including Asher Vollmer, creator of Apple's 2014 Game of the Year Threes, Joel McDonald, creator of 2015 IndiePlus finalist and Time Magazine Game of the Year Prune, and Andy Zhong, Founder and CEO of FunPlus. Game submissions will be judged on user experience, craftsmanship, and fun. The goal is to celebrate games and the independent artists that make them, and to reinforce FunPlus' belief that great games, exciting content and engagement, and terrific customer service is the key to success in mobile. Judges will consider innovation in design, tech, sound, and multiplayer and how these positively affect the player experience on a mobile device.

"FunPlus has been successful globally because we believe that players will love and support innovative and lovingly made games," said Andy Zhong, CEO and Founder of FunPlus. "The best game makers can come from anywhere, and that's why we created IndiePlus."

"The finalists of our first IndiePlus contest combined were featured by Apple 2000 times in 2015," noted Dan Fiden, CSO of FunPlus. "They've received Editor's Choice and have been downloaded by millions. We're inspired by indies and love to work with them."

"It's really great to see FunPlus promoting up-and-coming indie mobile games," added Joel McDonald, an independent game developer and 2015 IndiePlus finalist. "It's an incredibly tough space to get noticed, so the extra attention is much appreciated!" Since being named an IndiePlus finalist in 2015, McDonald's Prune has continued its success, collecting additional accolades including being named to Apple's "Best of 2015."

IndiePlus is open to indie studios comprised of teams with 30 or fewer members who own at least 75% of the showcased game IP themselves. All submissions must be in a substantially completed, playable form on either iOS and/or Android. FunPlus will require six to ten total builds of all submissions via Apple's TestFlight or HockeyApp (.ipa or .apk files cannot be accepted.)
