CHATTANOOGA, TN--(Marketwired - Aug 28, 2013) - According to a Pew Internet study, 31% percent of teens say that they do not use their phones to make calls to friends or family. Meanwhile, the majority of people over 65 do not use text messaging, email, or social media as their primary method of communication -- they prefer phone conversations. "With texting, emailing, and social media, younger generations have drifted away from phone conversations," said Carsten Trads, president of Clarity. "For seniors, this can cause a huge divide. Grandparents and seniors across the country desire more than anything to stay connected with their family. Through our campaign, we aim to reach all generations, urging anyone with parents, grandparents or older friends and family members to pick up their phones, share their voice and make someone's day."
Through the #CallMore social media campaign, Clarity hopes to highlight not only the lack of phone calls between generations but also emphasize the importance of these conversations in the lives of seniors.
"Where have you been? That's what so many people hear from their parent or grandparent when they call. Why? Because they haven't spoken on the phone in weeks or months," continued Trads. "We all lead busy lives, so you may not realize how much a simple phone conversation means to someone. We hope to reach people on social media, where we know they are spending most of their time, and encourage them to let loved ones hear their voice rather than see a text message or status update."
Teens send an average of 60 text messages a day. Through the Twitter hashtag #CallMore, Clarity is urging people to save a text and make a call. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/clarityproducts.
