Calm classrooms enable learning

ETFO offers professional upgrading courses Attention: Assignment Editor, City Editor, Education Editor, News Editor, Government/Political Affairs Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - July 6, 2005) - Every child and every teacher is entitled to learn and work in a safe and predictable environment. Learning how to create such an environment is the topic of a summer course offered by the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) in partnership with the Niagara ETFO Teacher Local.

The course is one of a wide range professional development opportunities offered this summer by ETFO in partnership with its locals across the province. Courses are taught by ETFO members and designed to provide teachers with practical skills and resources to use in their classrooms. Hundreds of elementary teachers are expected to take part.

Available courses include a women's leadership institute, principals' qualifications program, and credit courses.

Where: Niagara Teacher Local, 2601 Hwy 20 East, Fonthill, Ontario

This practical three-day workshop emphasizes the importance of establishing a positive classroom tone and will provide teachers with skills and strategies for solving problems with special needs and disruptive children.
