Cambodian Employment and Training Program Gains Goodwill Family Resource Center

ROCKVILLE, MD -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 2, 2007 -- Goodwill Industries International has opened a Family Resource Center for people with disabilities, orphans and rural migrants in Cambodia. The center will support existing employment, training and education programs managed by Digital Divide Data (DDD), a nonprofit social enterprise.

"At Goodwill we know that people are best able to focus on job training and career goals when they have a stable home life," says George W. Kessinger, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries International. "The new Family Resource Center will support existing employment and training programs by working to identify family needs and link employees to community resources."

DDD brings jobs and training to disadvantaged people in Cambodia and Laos by providing data entry and digitization services to clients worldwide, including Goodwill Industries International. The organization provides employees with a living wage, health care and education benefits. With Goodwill's help, DDD will now offer other kinds of support services as well.

"The Family Resource Center is a proven model of effective support for job seekers," says Kessinger. "We are very pleased to bring it to people in Cambodia who are struggling to find and keep good jobs and move up the career ladder."

Specifically, the Digital Divide Data Family Resource Center will provide case management and family needs assessments. It will also provide referrals to community-based services and develop other programs and services designed to meet specific employee needs.
