HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwire - Nov. 20, 2012) - Cambridge Suites Hotels
Megan and Adam Vokey-Vaters of Halifax have a son, Brayden, nearly 2 years old, who is battling severe combined immune deficiency (SCID). Since his diagnosis, Brayden and his parents have endured an unending series of hospital stays and visits for numerous tests and frequent monitoring of Brayden's progress. And so, when Cambridge Suites Hotels held a contest earlier this year, inviting entrants to tell their story about how they needed to reconnect with loved ones, Megan entered the contest, hoping to win a get-away that might give her and husband Adam a chance to spend some much needed quality time together. There were 37 official winners of a Cambridge Reconnect hotel package through the contest, but Megan and Adam were not among the lucky draws.
After the contest closed, management at Cambridge Suites Hotels agreed the Vokey-Vaters' story cried out for special treatment, so Cambridge Suites Hotels surprised Megan and Adam with a special bonus gift prize consisting of an all expense paid Reconnect Package at its Toronto location. Cambridge Suites Hotel in Halifax also donated lodging for Brayden's grandparents, who looked after him while Megan and Adam experienced full VIP treatment during their free get-away adventure in downtown Toronto. Scott Travis, General Manager of Cambridge Suites in Halifax expressed his pride in the project, saying, "The Cambridge Reconnect message is something we are proud to promote. We believe reconnection is important to everyone because we all have someone in our life that we feel a need to spend more quality time with - a relationship that needs more attention. It could be a friend, a distant relative or immediate family member; it could be our partner. It's a great feeling to know our hotels can play a part in helping people to slow down, relax and take the time to reconnect." Cambridge Suites has published a video telling the couple's story at www.youtube.com/watch?v=fz9m-y-wDJo and continues to give away a Reconnect Package monthly at www.reconnectmyway.com
