CambridgeSoft and Imaginatik Unveil Powerful Visual Collaboration Tool for Scientists

Collaborative Innovation Provides Scientists With Visual Problem-Solving Toolset Developed in Partnership With Pfizer

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - August 3, 2009) - Today researchers in the fields of chemistry, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals have a powerful new tool for collaborating online in large groups, thanks to ChemBioConnect, a new offering from enterprise crowdsourcing and collaborative innovation leader Imaginatik and life sciences software leader CambridgeSoft. ChemBioConnect allows scientists to draw, view, edit, archive and search chemical structures and biological systems in a secure, robust collaboration and idea management environment.

The software solution, which is being announced in conjunction with today's CambridgeSoft Conference and User Meeting, effectively allows for collaborative problem solving among scientists by combining CambridgeSoft's chemically intelligent visual toolsets with Imaginatik's leading-edge innovation and idea management platform.

Targeted at the needs of research and development professionals in the areas of pharmaceuticals, bioscience, biotechnology, chemistry and food science, the ChemBioConnect offering was developed in close collaboration with Pfizer, Inc. Pfizer leveraged its deep experience with Imaginatik's Idea Central and CambridgeSoft's ChemBioDraw products to help define the functionality of the offering. Pfizer researchers have been using the ChemBioConnect solution for several months.

"Professional chemists think and communicate visually, whether doodling on paper, working in teams at a whiteboard or keeping a notebook," said Dr. Robin Spencer, senior research fellow at Pfizer, Inc. "At Pfizer we have seen that marrying the ability to work visually with a secure collaborative innovation environment, as we have available in ChemBioConnect, gives our scientists a scalable and secure new way to capture ideas and solve challenging problems."

"Collaboration is vital in all forms of business activity, and chemistry and biology are not exceptions to this rule," said Mark Turrell, CEO of Imaginatik. "ChemBioConnect combines leading-edge software and processes in a collaborative visual toolset to help scientists work more effectively together to solve chemistry and biology problems faster, cheaper and better, and hopefully tackle the increasingly complex problems that chemists face."

"We are pleased to be working together with Imaginatik," said Michael G. Tomasic, president and CEO of CambridgeSoft. "With this collaboration we are ensuring that our customers benefit from the integration of CambridgeSoft's leading chemical and biological drawing software, ChemBioDraw, and Imaginatik's innovation engine to drive collaborative problem solving for new research insights and higher efficiency."
